Prepare for your upcoming service with a few simple steps before I arrive. They help protect your property, provide clear access to the areas being serviced and allow your appointment to go as smoothly as possible.
A Little Preparation Goes a Long Way.
These steps apply to most exterior cleaning appointments. Additional instructions for individual services are listed below.
Provide Water Access
Make sure at least one working outdoor water source is turned on and accessible before your appointment.
Close Windows & Doors
Double-check that exterior windows and doors are completely closed before cleaning begins.
Clear the Work Area
Move furniture, decorations, toys, cushions, planters and other movable items away from surfaces being cleaned.
Move Vehicles
Move vehicles away from the immediate work area and driveway when those areas are part of your scheduled service.
Unlock Gates
Make sure gates and other exterior access points are unlocked if I need to enter fenced or enclosed areas.
Pets & Children
Please keep pets and children indoors and away from hoses, equipment and active work areas during service.
Pick Up Pet Waste
Please pick up pet waste from lawns and access areas so hoses and equipment can be moved safely around the property.
Well Water Homes
If your home uses a well, avoid unnecessary heavy water use inside the home while exterior cleaning is underway.
No problem. If a grill, large planter, furniture piece or another item cannot reasonably be moved, leave it in place and let me know. I can work around it when possible.
Service-Specific Preparation.
Find your scheduled service below for additional preparation and a better idea of what to expect when I arrive.
Preparing for a House Wash
House washing uses a controlled low-pressure cleaning process around your home’s exterior.
- Make sure all windows and exterior doors are completely closed.
- Remove or secure lightweight decorations, flags, cushions and loose outdoor items.
- Move vehicles away from siding and work areas when possible.
- Let me know about known leaking windows, damaged exterior materials or electrical concerns before service begins.
- House washing includes an exterior window rinse, but it is not dedicated purified-water window cleaning.
Preparing for Roof Treatment
Roof cleaning is a treatment-based soft wash designed for algae, black streaks, moss and lichen.
- Keep windows and exterior doors fully closed.
- Keep people and pets away from the home perimeter while treatment is being applied.
- Move movable furniture, decorations or sensitive items away from roof drip lines when practical.
- Let me know ahead of time about newly planted or unusually sensitive landscaping.
- Moss and lichen may whiten after treatment and naturally release over the following weeks or months.
Preparing for Window Cleaning
Dedicated exterior window cleaning uses purified water and a professional water-fed pole system.
- Exterior window screens must be removed before arrival so the exterior glass can be accessed properly.
- Move patio furniture, decorations and other items blocking access to exterior glass.
- Close all windows completely.
- Interior window cleaning is not included.
- Paint, adhesive, mineral deposits, construction debris and other specialty conditions are not part of standard window cleaning unless specifically quoted.
Preparing for Pressure Washing
This includes scheduled cleaning of driveways, patios, walkways, porches and similar hard surfaces.
- Remove vehicles from driveways being cleaned.
- Move furniture, planters, rugs, toys and decorations off the cleaning area.
- Keep garage doors and nearby exterior doors closed.
- Clear small items from nearby lawn and landscape areas where hoses may need to pass.
- Oil, rust, paint, mineral staining and similar specialty conditions may require separate treatment and are not automatically included.
Preparing for Gutter Service
Gutter cleanouts require safe ladder access around the perimeter of your home.
- Keep the area directly below gutters accessible for ladder placement.
- Move vehicles, furniture and movable decorations away from ladder setup areas when practical.
- Keep pets and children indoors while ladder work is underway.
- Standard gutter cleaning includes debris removal and verification that accessible gutters and downspouts are flowing correctly.
- Underground drainage work is only included when specifically listed on your estimate.
Decks, Fences, Gutter Guards & Oxidation Removal
Most additional exterior services follow the same basic access and preparation guidelines.
- Keep access around the scheduled work area open.
- Remove furniture, planters and movable items from decks or surfaces being cleaned.
- For gutter guard installation or siding oxidation removal, keep ladder-access and work areas reasonably clear.
- If something cannot be moved safely, leave it in place and let me know.
- Your approved estimate determines the exact work included in the appointment.
You Usually Don’t Need to Be Home.
As long as I have access to the scheduled work areas and a working outdoor water source when required, most exterior cleaning appointments can be completed while you are away.
I’ll communicate with you if anything comes up during the service and let you know when the work is complete.
Scheduling, Weather & Payment.
Exterior work depends on property conditions and Wisconsin weather. If anything affects your scheduled appointment, I will communicate with you directly.
Weather
Light rain does not always prevent exterior cleaning. Heavy rain, lightning, strong wind, temperature or unsafe conditions may require a schedule adjustment. If that happens, I will contact you.
Payment
Payment is due when your service is completed unless your estimate states otherwise. Credit-card and check payments are accepted at the listed price. A 5% discount may be available for cash payments.
After Service
If you are home, we can review the completed work together when practical. If you are away, I can communicate completion and your invoice electronically. Please contact me promptly with any concerns.
Your Estimate Defines the Scope.
Exterior cleaning can dramatically improve a surface, but different types of staining, damage and material conditions require different solutions. Your approved estimate identifies the work included in your appointment.
Standard Cleaning
Standard exterior cleaning targets dirt and organic buildup such as algae, mold, mildew and normal surface contamination.
Specialty Conditions
Oxidation, mineral staining, clay, rust, oil, paint, artillery fungus and construction residue may require separate treatment or may not be fully correctable.
Cleaning Isn’t Repair
Cleaning removes buildup. It does not repair damaged siding, failed coatings, deteriorated materials or other pre-existing conditions that may become more noticeable once a surface is clean.
